The installation of eXtra4<win4> essentially consists of 4 steps

 

- Installation of the printer driver (see below)

- Installing the software (see below)

- Setting up the printer

- Setting up the label-layouts

 

Installing the printer driver

 

- In order for eXtra4<win4> to be able to communicate with the printer, you must first determine how the printer is to be connected to the computer.

 

- There are basically 2 options for this

 

Connection via USB

 

- The use of the USB interface requires the installation of a printer driver

 

- Please note that using the USB interface can lead to malfunctions in some cases

 

a) during Windows function updates (Windows sometimes deletes unknown printer drivers)

 

b) when changing the USB input on the computer

 

- We therefore always recommend using the network interface (with a fixed IP address) as the most secure method

 

Connection via network (Ethernet)

 

- When connecting the printer via the network, the printer must first be assigned a fixed IP address.

This should either be carried out by an experienced IT technician or via remote access by eXtra4[Support]

 

- A printer driver can be used when connecting via Ethernet. However, if possible, do not install

the Windows driver "Generic-Text-only". Preferably use a fixed TCP/IP address as the interface.

 

- By using a fixed IP address in the printer, eXtra4<win4> can also control the printer without a printer driver (socket connection).

 

 

Installing the software

 

- Start the installation of the software by double-clicking on the file > eXtra4win4_Setup.exe <

and follow the prompts of the setup programme.

 

- After installation, the programme starts via the launcher, initially in the Lite Edition

 

- You can now test the software in the Lite Edition for an unlimited period of time.

In the Lite Edition, all functions are limited to a minimum test scope.
