Reasons for a fourth major version
Our previous label printing programme eXtra4<winIII> has added more and more functions over the many years it has been used by our customers.
the increased functionality has not only made the programme more flexible but has also left its mark in terms of complexity.
the so-called "Ease of Use" has suffered as a result.
It is not only the old eXtra4<winIII> programme that has learned new functions. As programmers, we have also found ways to redesign the programme to make it
easier and more intuitive to use. The new concept is now called eXtra4<win4>.
We have remained true to our motto "KISS" (Keep It Stupid Simple) and have only made the new functions visible where advanced users need them.
We have even been able to simplify some functions.
The new, fourth generation of our labelling software eXtra4<win4> brings with it many genuine innovations. (See below)
In addition, a large number of other ideas are already waiting in our RoadMap to be realised in the expected software updates of our fourth version.
Is an update necessary? For whom is it worthwhile?
If you are already using the previous version eXtra4<winIII> and you can cover all your labelling requirements with it, an update is not absolutely necessary.
The previous version eXtra4<winIII> > runs on all current Windows operating systems (maintained by Microsoft) and will continue to be maintained by us.
This means that any errors that may still be present will be rectified and adaptations to new Windows versions will be made wherever possible. However, new functions will no longer be included.
Innovations
All settings are saved in the database so that
the label printing system is fully restored in the
event of a system crash by restoring the database.
In this way, the entire system and its settings can
be transferred
relatively
easily to another computer.
New appearance (design)
- Windows-compliant adaptation of the installation structure (reduction of conflicts with virus scanners)
Trial editions are no longer necessary. In jeder Edition können alle Funktionen der Software getestet werden

Keine Unterstützung sehr alter Drucker, die ausschliesslich über EPL2 gesteuert werden können (z.e.g. Intermec PC4, ZEBRA TLP2742/3842 etc.)
The previously dominant EPL2 command language has been replaced by ZPL2 (Zebra).
Edition "Connect"
Script-based transfer of data from external systems with almost unlimited possibilities to prepare the transferred data for label printing
The label printing programme is now started via the "Launcher", which has the task of ensuring the integrity of the label printing.
The launcher checks whether the printer and labels are installed and whether the database structure is up-to-date.
- The check for updates also takes place here before the actual label printing starts. (Road-Map)
